Seedbased production and delivery platform for multicomponent vaccines
Abstract
Seed-based production and delivery platform for multi-component vaccines: To specifically address the needs of developing countries vaccines need to be cheap, robust, generally available, and address infectious diseases and strains relevant for developing countries. Moreover, these vaccines need to be tailored for low-resource / low-infrastructure settings and mass-immunization campaigns. We propose to develop cereal plants that allow the low-cost production of recombinant multi-component subunit vaccines against infectious diseases at a global scale and to implement a delivery approach combined with bioencapsulation to substantially improve orally delivered vaccines.
