Carbon Cycle Modelling in African Moist Forests
Abstract
In the past climate change caused catastrophic declines in the extension of rain forests in the Congo basin, the second largest rain forest block on earth. Ecosystem models are important tools for the understanding the carbon cycle of ecosystems and may explicitely consider the impacts of climate change. In this project two ecosystem models already adapted for african rain forests (Biome-BGC, LPJ-GUESS) will be compared. Expected result is a better understanding of the dynamics of the African tropical rain forest.
