The Vienna Research Festival Smart citizens - We shape our city
Abstract
The Institute for Landscape Planning - in cooperation with Green City Lab - participates in the "Vienna Research Festival 2013," which this year is dedicated to the topic “Smart City”. The aim is to present the results from different research projects related to “Smart Citizens” and “Smart Open Spaces”. Smart Citizens - their experience, knowledge and creativity are important resources for a sustainable, innovative urban design. New technologies may provide valuable support. "Augmented Reality Apps" allow visualizing projects of urban planning at an early stage to provide citizens comprehensive information. “Smart Open Spaces” make your stay pleasant and support being on the move. Open spaces are not only infrastructure, but also places for communication and exchange between residents. Again, the attention to the different needs and requirements is important. By using a range of exhibits and thematic workshops the young Viennese learn about conjunctions in urban planning.
