Due to the increasing relevance of renewable energy production on roofs of buildings the ‚building integrated photovoltaic’ becomes more and more an important key role. But currant solutions are immature – synergies have to be generated. Additionally in urban areas roofs are used miscellaneously as green roof or as recreation area or as habitat or as area for energy production. Multilateral use concepts are still missing. This research project focuses on the combination of all named usages: new synergies between roof greening, energy production by photovoltaic and usability for recreation shall be found. Comprehensive analyses regarding user’s needs, plant’s need in combination with shading of photovoltaic panel, architecture concepts, irrigation system and cost-benefit-calculation will be done. New, innovative combinations of green roofs and energy production by photovoltaic shall be found. Tested will be different translucent photovoltaic panels, which are fixed on pergola. These combinations will be situated on different types of green roofs.
The effects of each component of these new systems will be examined in several test phases.
plant ecology; construction physics; solar architecture; power economics; renewable resources (energy); urban planning;
living roofs; photovoltaic; cityscape;
