Management of Teak plantations in Costa Rica.
Abstract
The general scope of the the project is to provide scientific knowledge for the definition of management alternatives for Teak plantations in Costa Rica. Specifically this includes: (a) review and analysis of existing knowledge on Teak plantation management in Costa Rica, (b) based on (a) and internal requirements the definition of management concepts for plantations of the Teak Austria GmbH, (c) the design and implementation of a network of long-term observation and experimental plots (together with the Institute of Botany and the Institute of Soil Science), (d) the adaptation of a hybrid growth model for the simulation of teak plantations, (e) contributions and advice on FSC certification issues, (f) development of a multi-criteria approach to select and evaluate the suitability of sites for Teak plantations. This project is part of a network of individual projects at the Institute of Botany [NN], the Institute of Soil Science [NN], the Institute of Remote Sensing and Land Information [NN.
