Rationalisation of biomass production.
Abstract
The goal of this work is to determine if and under which conditions rationalisation of the delivery of biomass, particularly wood-chips, is possible. The organisation of sustainable and economically viable wood-chips delivery should be investigated to see if biomass can be a competitive alternative to other energy sources. The necessary productivity data for the possible variations will be provided by time studies. Subsequently, with the help of a computer model, the cheapest work method will be determined. From a written questionnaire to heating companies the existing conditions for market partnerships between biomass producers and energy providers will be established. Solutions regarding wood-chip drying, storage, transport, volume calculation and costing will be found from a literature study.
