Abstract
In Nicaragua Jatropha curcas is grown in plantations as an oil crop for producing biological fuel. True bugs, infesting fruit and seeds, cause considerable yield losses. Identity, life cycle characteristis, and epidemiology of the most important pest species are investigated in order to generate an integrated pest management concept. Possibilities to avoid chemical control and to use entomophilic fungi for the biological control of epidemic bug populations are specificly considered.
