Further Education Strategy for spatial planning experts in Lower Austria
Abstract
Spatial planning is a social learning process addressing options of possible futures in complex spatial systems and settings. Therefore the information and qualification of involved actors is of high importance. It is necessary to provide latest knowledge for spatial planning experts as well as local decision makers to contribute to a high planning quality in spatial planning at local level in lower Austria. As a first step in this project a road map for further education of spatial planning expert in lower Austria will be developed and first training courses will be offered. According to the concept of "customized education programmes" (Peer & Stöglehner 2013) the need for further knowledge will be identified in a discursive setting, courses will be organized like workshops with short and focussed scientific inputs and a collective reflection with the spatial planning experts. Three training courses will be conducted and evaluated. As a final step, a further education strategy for spatial planning experts for the next five years will be developed. It will be determined, if it´s course program should be adapted for the target group of local decision makers as well.
