Abstract
Nitrogen fixation is a very energy intensive process. For technical fixation high temperatures and pressure is required. The process requests 1.4% of the global energy demand and is responsible for 3-5% of the global CO2 emission. The products are used mainly in the agricultural sector. Aim of this research studio is to develop and establish a microbiological nitrogen fixation process to produce ammonium and proteins. This new process should replace the energy intensive process and help to meet the needs of the future. During the project different disciplines like microbiology, reactor design and process engineering will be combined and lead to a successfull project. As organisms archaea and procaryontes will be selected and used used for nitrogen fixation in anaerobic environment.
