RasTi - Location of count stations of cycle traffic in Tyrol
Abstract
Against the background of several transport, environmental and health master plans the government of the State of Tyrol aimed at the increase of the share of cyclist from 7% to 14% in 2020. GHG emissions and air pollutions shall be reduced, the transport system shall be improved (leading to a reduction of congestion, improvement of accessibility etc.). In particular, cycle infrastructure needs to be improved in order to provide an attractive supply for cycling. A network of (permanent) count stations and an appropriate data analysis concept are necessary to model cycle traffic flows, to analyse temporal changes and to evaluate the success of transport measures. Both, data collection and data analysis form the basis for determining the effectiveness of improvement of the cycling infrastructure. Within the RasTi project current count stations in the State of Tyrol were identified and a concept for extending the count station network considering location, technical performance as well as data analysis were elaborated.
