Design and economic efficiency of agricultural biogas plants
Abstract
Economic efficiency of agricultural biogas plants can only be achieved by an optimal deign and operation. The investment costs of different types of agricultural biogas plants are analysed in detail. Main factors determining the economic efficiency are investigated, such as: investment costs, energy yield, co-digestion, financial yield for the generated electricity, life span of the components of agricultural biogas plants and financial yield for the recycling of non-agricultural organic wastes. Due to limited knowledge, co-digestion often results in instabilities in the fermentation process. The consequences are reduced biogas yield and operation failures, which lead to high costs. It is therefore necessary to find parameters that show the stability of the fermentation process an help to avoid operation failures. Investigations are carried out under field conditions.
