Data analysis for the assessment of foundation vibrations in wind power plants with accompanying laboratory tests for the fatigue damage of concrete
Abstract
The lifetime of wind power plants is limited by reaching an unacceptably high risk of outages of structural and power generation components. The project focus is on wind power plant foundations that are subjected to a very high number of vibrational loads during service. The objective is the analysis of timelines of acceleration that were measured on real foundations, based on the methodology that has been developed in the preceding project (Vibranalysis), with the ultimate goal to assess a foundation's condition and long-term changes therein. Accompanying ultrasonic fatigue tests on concrete specimens are conducted, to gain an understanding of the progress of fatigue damage in concrete. The results shall be correlated with the results of the data analysis. The obtained results shall be processed, edited and published in peer review journals in collaboration with AMiP.
