Impact of hot climate scenarios on hydro-power production
Abstract
In the previous project POWERCLIM the BOKU consortium investigated climate change impact on hydro-power production for selected basins in Austria and Bavaria. Based on the experiences of the recent hot years the customer ordered some additional research, which considers the increasing probability of warm and dry weather conditions in Austria and its impact. The applied data base will be the updated climate data set ÖKS15 of Austria, which integrates different model realisations. The project will use hot and dry variants and will apply these ensembles for the estimation of the corresponding hydrological responses. BOKU-MET will furthermore test the statistical relationship between Arctic shelf ice depletion and changing weather patterns in Europe. The hydrological analysis will be carried out for four representative cathments, which reflect the whole variety of impact factors and regimes.
