LUCAS SOIL Austria
Abstract
The soil monitoring programme LUCAS conducted by the European Union will be evaluated in terms of comparability with national soil monitoring approaches. Moreover, we will investigate as to whether soil point data obtained in the LUCAS programme represent the surrounding grid areas and can therefore be used for interpolation purposes. We will compare the sampling strategies of LUCAS and our national monitoring system by parallel sampling and related soil and site description. This will be complemented by detailed assessment of the variability of soil and landscape propertiesroperties at selected sites. The data obtained will provide information about the suitability of LUCAS soil monitoring data for various purposes such as creating maps of soil properties for agro-environmental policy. We intend to publish the results in a peer-reviewed international journal.
