The Green Space Factor of Salzburg - Development of a method for applying the green spaces factor in the City of Salzburg
Abstract
A declared aim of the City of Salzburg is to contribute to a pleasant city climate through climate-sensitive spatial development and, in particular, by securing and expanding green and blue urban infrastructure, and thus to maintain and improve the quality of life in the city. Green city quarters, i.e. greening on private plots and buildings, make a decisive contribution to this. Controlling the amount of green on these private plots is a challenge. One approach to control this compensation is a “green space factor” which specifies a quantitative target value and which includes different elements of urban green infrastructure with a weighting factor in its calculation. The following central research question is derived from the above target formulation: “Which method can be used to implement a user-friendly and practicable green spaces factor in the city of Salzburg at the development planning level?
