Climate Proofing - Eastern area, Check of entry points for spatial planning and related sectoral planning in Eastern Austria (CLIP-OST)
Abstract
A central aspect of the CLIP-OST research project is the question how strategies and measures for "climate proofing" can be strategically and operationally established in spatial and landscape planning in Lower Austria, Burgenland and Vienna. Through actors-based reasearch in the three Federal state and with support of the PGO tiering between the various planning levels and consideration of climate proofing across federal state borders will be discussed. CLIP-OST focuses on precautionary planning, which also promotes multifunctional land use and, as far as possible, also generates "co-benefits" for climate change mitigation and attempts to avoid lock-in effects. Moreover, the project will examine options to enhance consideration of cross-sectoral aspects of climate proofing and related conflicts of interest due to scarcity of resources (water shortage, increasing soil/land consumption) at the various levels of spatial and lanscape planning.
