Determination of the biodiversity of spring biotopes in the National Park Kalkalpen with regard to the spring type-specific population structure of the indicator groups Plecoptera and Trichoptera (Insecta)
Abstract
Since the existence of the Limestone Alps National Park, a number of spring biotopes have been provided with a protective fence against trampling and contamination. In order to test the efficiency of these measures, emergence traps have been exposed at selected spring waters in recent years. The faunistic material obtained in this way is now to be determined with regard to the indicator groups Plecoptera and Trichoptera and thus documented for subsequent analyses. The main focus is on the source area of the Hintere Rettenbachtal, which is important in terms of biodiversity and the occurrence of possible endemics. With the recording of selected macrozoobenthos indicators, the naturalness and nature conservation relevance of these spring areas can be assessed more concretely. The following main research questions will be answered in the present project: 1. determination of the biodiversity of an undisturbed spring of the National Park Kalkalpen with regard to the spring type-specific community structure of the indicator groups Plecoptera and Trichoptera (Insecta) (Hintere Rettenbachquelle) and presentation of their relevance for nature conservation. 2. analysis of differences in the colonization of the indicator groups Plecoptera and Trichoptera (Insecta) of spring biotopes under different pressure types. The basis for this is provided by samples from emergence traps of the Hintere Rettenbachquelle as well as samples of three other springs in the National Park, which are provided by the client.
