Pastures of Tibet - Development in the past, present problems and possibilities for a sustainable utilization in the future.
Abstract
Multidisciplinary project on traditional pasture systems in Tibet and future aspects for the development or renovation of a sustainable land-use system under the political and socio-economical conditions. In summer 1998 an expedition lead us through South- und Central-Tibet. The aim of this pilot-project was to get an overview about the regional problems and the conditions of the pastures as well as factors that are responsible for this conditions. Contact and discussions with nomads and local experts have been important principles. The results of the report should help to make a detailed program for an extensive project.
