analysis of stable isotopes for the identification of the origin of the origin of invasive insect pests found in new areas
Abstract
The risk of introduction and establishment of ALB, pine wood nematode or pine moth (in the latter case to the British Isles) is considered very high. The potential for damage from these species is very high. Therefore, strict monitoring is extremely important and, if a pest individual appears, rapid response and proper countermeasures are essential. The planned method allows and facilitates the right decision in case of first occurrence: further (intensive) monitoring, or eradication measures (followed by further monitoring). Effort and consequences are highly variable, the planned method helps to find the right measure.
