Inclusive electric cargo tricycle system
Abstract
Austria is striving to achieve the challenging goal of climate neutrality by 2040. Transforming the mobility sector to renewable energy systems is a particularly important building block in this endeavour. The development of new vehicle concepts and e-bikes that are aimed at a particularly favourable price or a special purpose, for example, is a core element of this. ELINDRA aims to expand an existing e-cargo bike into an inclusive cargo tricycle system in order to increase the range of applications. A plug-in system (including a new drive) is to be developed that enables a very low-threshold conversion of the two-wheeler into a tricycle (and back again). The advantages of this system are a very wide range of applications depending on the target group and usage requirements, a massive reduction in costs for users (only one vehicle for all applications) and, among other things, flexible use in relation to the existing infrastructure and the associated space available on the road. The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to develop the vehicle in line with user requirements, to test it in field trials and to evaluate the findings from the tests.
