Protein intake situation in dairy cows with different performance on organic farms.
Abstract
Feed and nutrient intake, as well as milk production and nutrient content of the milk will be individually evaluated for each 9 Simmental-dairy cows on two organic farms. Data for 9 cows (each 3 cows with low, medium and high milk production, respectively) will be collected per farm during the winter feeding period. The diets will be based on hay, no silages will be fed. Regression analysis will be performed in order to analyze the effects of protein- and energy intake upon milk production and the nutrient content of milk. The aim of this work is to estimate the probability for problems concerning performance and animal health in dairy cows with different daily milk production on organic farms.
