Influence of the cultural landscape on the population dynamics of little owl in Lower Austria and Burgenland
Abstract
This projekt is part of the scientific programm ¿Sustainable Development of the Austrian Cultural Landscape¿, of the Ministry of Science and Traffic, part of the Module group ¿Basic of the biodiversity, significance of different Cultural Landscapes for the security of biodiversity¿. The purpose of this projekt is to dedect changes of landcover in five defined regions of Lower Austria and Burgenland in the periode from 1984 to 1994 to analyse the population of the Little Owl(Athene noctua) by using Landsat-TM-satellite images. The examination is not only based on conventional pixelwise methods but also using automatic generated segments which correlate to landscape elements. Thereby extra information about the shape of the single elements are gained. This information, in combination with the landcover, are used to examinate the change of landscape structure. (R.
