ENVIP-Nature extension
Abstract
Socioeconomic factors play and important role in the development of landscapes. The aim of the project is to assess the changing naturalness and biodiversity values of landscapes under varying external impacts origing from population, agriculture, tourism and traffic. Both time axis are considered, the historic and the future one. The historic development is analysed in Mallorca using a combination of remote sensing data (aerial images and satellite images) to describe the change in landscape due to changes in socioeconomic parameters. The future development is illustrated in the border region Upper Austria and the Czech republic (Sumava region). Different scenarios of the future development of main socioeconomic factors are considered and combined with models of landscape changes. The methodology that is developed enables an assessment of the naturalness and biodiversity values of the landscape under changing socioeconomic parameters.
