COSINUS - Comparative Study and Interpretation of landuse changes in different Austrian cultural landscapes
Abstract
The aim of the project is the development of a remote sensing based monitoring system to identify the landscape changes in Austrian cultural landscapes. The monitoring system will enable the interpretation and evaluation of these changes with regard to their landscape ecological consequences. From these interpretation results conclusions for both agricultural policy and subsidy policy will be derived. The study focuses on the recent changes in Austrian cultural landscapes within the last three decades. Using historical maps the time period can be extended until the 18th century. The monitoring system is developed, tested and evaluated in Austrian study sites.
