ARTS - Actions on the integration of Rural Transport Services
Abstract
In sparsely-populated rural areas supply with public transport deteriorates because frequently running traditional forms of Public Transport cannot be financed any more. Mobility and supply of basic goods is getting increasingly car-dependent as a result of longer distances between destinations and poorer Public Transport supply. Besides leading away from sustainability this development causes problems for people without access to a private car (the elderly, children, teenagers, housewives,...) and it deprives this regions of substantial qualities of life. Demand oriented public transport as a result of this project is intended to give this development a turn towards better conditions.
