ADORE - Adult Education as a Tool of Rural Development
Abstract
The main objective of the project is to establish the role of adult education in the general framework of rural development system in each participating country. This implies a raised level of awareness and motivation of the staff of participating educational institutions with regard to the adult education which results in the elevated status of adult education in these institutions. Moreover, a regional and transnational network including agents operating in the field of rural development is built up with a special focus on the role of adult education as an instrument of rural development. The regional network contributes to the exchange of information on the educational needs arising from the grass-root level actors (farmers, entrepreneurs, citizens, NGOs, e.g.) as well as information on the contents of the adult education provided by the institutions. In this process the educational institutions adopt the role of an active and responsible agent of regional and rural development. The primary target group are the teachers of the educational institutions who are key persons with regard to the contacts to rural people. The secondary but actually the final target group are the rural people living in the sparsely populated areas of the participating countries (Finland, Austria and Hungary). The planned duration of the project is three years. The main activities include the intensification of information and communication, exchange of good practices, updating the knowledge of teachers on rural development processes and andragogy, building up adult student support and recruiting systems and establishing the regional and transnational networks of the agents of rural development. The expected outcomes and products include a plan for the development of adult education, curriculums for teachers, a manual with national cases of the adult student support and recruiting systems, an educational module on a topic relevant for the rural development of the region and a CD-rom of the functioning of the regional networks. All these products are design for each participating educational institution.
