Abstract
The aim of this project is the derivation of classes of standing timber volume from image data of the satellite Landsat 7 in a boreal forest of Siberia. The impetus was given by the project SIBERIA1 (SAR Imaging for Boreal Ecology and Radar Interferometry Applications), which could differentiate 4 biomass classes in forests ( #8804; 20 m¿/ha, 20-50 m¿/ha, 50-80 m¿/ha, > 80 m¿/ha) by analysis of Radar data. The analysis of the optical data from Landsat 7 ETM+ will allow a comparison with the information content of the Radar data.
