Abstract
In this project we test the effect of fallow fields in arable land on population dynamics of European hares. In four populations we monitor the age structure, reproduction, food use and food selection over a period of four years. In addition we analyse the effects of different food qualities and quantities on female fecundity and cold tolerance in leverets. The project aims at reconciling agricultural management strategies with wildlife conservation.
