Dissemination of Research Results in semi-arid and arid Ecosystems with a Focus on Sustainable Water Ressource Management in Ethiopia
Abstract
The main idea behind the SSA is to motivate Ethiopian researches to work together and to build links to water management stakeholders both nationally and to neighboring countries. This networking should lead to the conception of high impact, innovative research and implementation projects for the sustainable water management in Eastern Afica. The Project Plan Award will offer incentives in the form of financial support for research secondments to Europe, computing and/or field equipment relevant to iomplementation of the planned project. The implementation project plans should fit into one of the following three categories: 1. Integrated water supply and resource management, 2. Salinity and soil fertility, 3. Irrigation and water management. All projects should include a participatory approach component in the implementation plan. A guideline as how projects ideas should be planned and presented, along with other rules and conditions, will be presented at the Kick-off meeting. The BOKU, working together with key scientific personnel from the partners, will offer ongoing remote and on-site coaching and supervision to the project planners. The best project plan will bew presented at an internation symposium, where a jury will judge the best projects. The aim is to provice at least some support to any project that is shown to be technically, financially and ecologically feasible.
