Integrated River Management and intermuniciple burden sharing - area balance for flood protection, settlement development and ecology
Abstract
The project aims at analyzing land use in catchments with respect to flood protection, built up areas and ecology. Based on an evaluation of the economic values and importance of retention areas along rivers, recommendations how to compensate between the supply of retention areas on the one hand and the existence of economic values in former retention areas on the other hand will be developed. This will be done on an regional level between several municipalities and shall allow for an harmonisation of flood protection, land use development and ecology. Finally a conceptual model for balancing monetary values between communities within a catchment will be developed (aquivalents for retention areas; permit trading).
