Abstract
Distribution, migration and activity of the recent growing beaver population in the cultural landscape are subjects to an increase in various human induced landuse conflicts and cause great interest in the ongoing public debate (fields of interest concerned are: agriculture, forestry, pondfarming, water managment, human settlement, infrastructure). Aim of the project is the implementation and continuation of a beaver management concept dealing with the following topics: documentation and management of conflict cases, use and evaluation of managment techniques, monitoring of the beaver distribution, coordination and harmonization of data collection and data analysis, scientific research on case studies including morphometrics and genetics, elaboration of instruction material, knowledge transfer and training of „beaver consultants“, networking on a national and international level.
