Extension of the Habitat-Indicatormodel als basis for generalised assessment of abiotic and biotic functional status of alpine rivers
Abstract
The project aims at extention and confirmation of the preliminary Indicator-Model for assessment of fish habitats in alpine rivers. The model is designed as rapid screening toolin order to assess the habitat conditions in running waters with a easy to handle tood adequate for engineers taking into account the morphological river type. The tool allows without comprehensive computing both the estimation of impacts on the river morphology and hydrological regime. The model is based on the hydraulic relations between selected hydromorphological parameters and the habitat conditions essential for key species. The preliminary tools will be extended to all major river tpes and key species.
