Abstract
The growth efficiency of tree species in mixed forest stands can only be compared with the growth efficiency in mono-specific stands, if the species in mixed stands can be attributed to a well defined area. There are several conventional methods of calculating these species proportions by area. They will be compared with differently weighted tessilation of the stand area by individual trees. The resulting interpretations of growth efficiency will be studied and discussed.
