- Lebensraum und Landschaft
Abstract
The mission of the project is to develop a conceptual outline for a carbon assessment tool in northern Ethiopia. Based on experimental field data, climate and soil information and modeling tools, the flux dynamics of ecosystems in the region including their carobn storage potential in the context to REDD acivities are assessed and evaluated. We are specifically interested in (i) linking plot level data with large scale ecosystem modeling tools (ii) assess the risk of diffrernet land use types in Terms of errosion and Degradation issues and (iii) investigate the carbon storage potential of forests in the context to the REDD dabate. The expected outcome is informaiton about potential management improvements to ensure sustainable land use in the region.
