Research Focus

The focus of my research activities is in the field of evolutionary and population genetics. I concentrate on the investigation of temporal and spatial changes in genetic variation in forest tree and plant populations and their response potential in the context of climate change. Furthermore, I am particularly interested in conservation genetics, which is also reflected in my participation in research projects in West and Central Africa. In addition to conventional molecular genetic analyses of the spatial genetic structure of populations, our team also applies high-throughput sequencing methods. These methods help to identify gene loci and genes associated with local adaptation.
