Abstract:
In this research effects of different plant growth substances like “KE-Plantasalva (normal)”, “KE-Plantasalva (salzarm)”, “Schachtelhalm Extrakt (horsetail extract)” and “BIPLANTOL® Universal” on germination of garden cress (Lepidium sativum L.), Chard (Beta vulgaris L. subsp. vulgaris) and Onion (Allium cepa L. var. cepa) has been investigated in the way of standardized germination capability tests. For “KE-Plantasalva normal” und “KE-Plantasalva salzarm” tests were conducted applying solutions of 0,5% and 5% concentrations. For the plant growth additives “Schachtelhalm Extrakt (horsetail extract)” and “BIPLANTOL® Universal” the recommended dosage was applied. The germination experiments were carried out according to the standardized ISTA protocols. Subsequently the shoot and root parts were separated, weighed, dried for 24 hours (65°C) and weighed again. The average root dry weight of garden cress treated with KE-Plantasalva normal 5% and KE-Plantasalva salzarm 5% was lower than the control treatment, the shoot dry weight of the said was higher than the control treatment. For the chard seedlings the mean root dry weight of KE-Plantasalva salzarm 5% was higher than the control treatment. The shoot dry weight of KE-Plantasalva salzsarm 0,5% was lower than the control treatment. In the case of onion, the average root dry weight according to ISTA for KE-Plantasalva salzarm 5% and horsetail extract were below the results of the control treatment. However, the values which were recorded according to non-ISTA method were all higher than the control treatment. The exhibited values of shoot dry weight according to ISTA were all lower than the control, except for normal KE-Plantasalva 5% and BIPLANTOL® Universal. The values recorded according to non-ISTA method for KE-Plantasalva normal 0,5%, KE-Plantasalva salzarm 0,5% and BIPLANTOL® Universal were higher than the control treatment. In summary, it should be noted that the standard deviation have to be taken into account, because they may cause major fluctuations, especially with regard to the results of roots and shoots.
