Abstract
Mapping of site- and stand-related predispostion combined with topoclimatic modelling of bark beetle development will be used for risk assessment of bark beetle outbreaks at the National Park Gesäuse. Based on this data, a puffer area at the border of the National Park can be established where control measurements have to be done in order to protect adjacent managed spruce stands. Besides this, forest areas with missing or low risk for bark beetle epidemics can be detected, where no control measurements are needed.
