Abstract
A bottleneck in the production of bio energy by the use of anaerobic digestion (AD) is the treatment, processing and utilisation of the fermentation end product, the digestate. This study characterises and evaluates the different treatment technologies for digestate to find the best process combinations for various types of AD plants. That increases the total efficiency and enables unutilised potentials and new substrates for biogas production.
