Abstract
The project's goal is to create a handbook for functional and socio-spatial analysis of public space for the Municipal Department 18 - Urban Development and Urban Planning of the City of Vienna. Within the project, examples of functional and socio-spatial analysis from Vienna and other Austrian and European cities are compared. The different theoretical and practical approaches, strategies and projects as well as the various application fields and areas are analyzed. Demonstrating the benefits, the possibilities of functional and socio-spatial analysis and their implementation into regular planning and development processes are further components of the project. The handbook for functional and socio-spatial analysis will comprise of quality criteria, guidelines for implementation and a "toolbox".
