Chemo-enzymatische Synthese neuer Polymere auf Zuckerbasis
Abstract
The object of the project is to synthesize novel polymers using oxidized sugars, that are prepared by enzyme technology, as the starting material. For this bioctalytic part it is planned to employ the cellobiose-oxidizing enzyme cellobiose dehydrogenase from S. rolfsii for the selective oxidation of various di- and trisaccharides (e.g., cellobiose, maltose, cellotriose, maltotriose, etc.) at the anomeric carbon to obtain the corresponding carboxylic acid derivatives in gram quantities. These oxidized derivatives will then be transformed into the corresponding aminoamides via a lactone intermediate. The amino sugars will be used as co-monomers for the preparation of polymeric poly-amidoamines, compounds that are usually bio-compatible and that therefore can be used as drug carrier polymers, the sugar appendages being selective receptor targets.
