Surface runoff and 2D-discharge modelling for the representation of flood areas and flow visualization in Linz-Urfahr
Abstract
The project examines the potential hazard exposure of seven catchments which are located in Upper-Austria in the region Mühlviertel. This area, specifically the city district Linz-Urfahr, has been vulnerable to flooding in the past, as a result of heavy rainfall. One part of this study is a hydrological analysis of the catchments including rainfall-runoff models and the comparison with given data. The second part includes surveying work and 2D-discharge models for the torrents and the calculation of various flood scenarios. The results should provide a basis for hazards maps and some scientific methods for the research issues. Flood areas and flow visualizations will be represented.
