Shifts in Weather Incidents Threatening reliability of the electricity distribution and transmission /economic performance due to climate CHange & Opportunities For Foresight planning
Abstract
The goal of SWITCH-OFF is to help maintaining the electricity supply in despite an increasing trend of damaging meteorological events with climate change and thus help avoiding grave economic damages from outages and blackouts. We will achieve this goal by working in partnership with transport- and distribution service operators (T/DSOs) and use their damage data system/electric grid layers as well as the expertise of the consortium in identifying both economically sensitive parts of the electricity grid and prospective regional hotspots of damaging meteorological extremes.
