Eurostat Physical Environmental Accounting 2019 - MFA Training
Abstract
Since the adoption of the first European Strategy for Environmental Accounting (ESEA) in 2003, European leaders have recognized the important role of environmental accounting as an instrument for sustainable development and for EU environmental policy. Together with the national statistical offices, Eurostat is responsible for reporting environmental accounting. In order to support member states in the preparation of data for environmental accounts, Eurostat is providing manuals, questionnaires and data bases, or conducts pilot studies in individual countries. Respective material is available on the Eurostat website. Eurostat carries out some of its activities by awarding contracts for the provision of services relating to the various fields of the European statistical programme. This contract is about supporting service on data production and development of physical environmental accounts (Lot 6). Therein, the Institute of Social Ecology is responsible for holding a training workshop for representatives of European Statistical Offices on methods of economy-wide material flow accounts.
