SNP Array Modell - Genomic diversity in equine and canine populations
Abstract
The genotyping of high density, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers is a well-developed technology but is being under-utilized in companion animals. Thus the overall goal of the "SNP Array Modell" project is to narrow this gap and analyze genomic diversity in a number of equine and canine populations. A standardized set of genomic analyses will be developed, to assess the diversity in the genotyped breeds. These analyses will help to obtain new knowledge about the breeds and identify potential problems. The main emphasis will be placed on analyses of genomic relationships, admixture, and inbreeding.
