Development of a bioassay for the mycotoxin zearalenone and other substances with estrogenic activity.
Abstract
Zearalenone is a mycotoxin with estrogenic activity that can occure in relevant amounts in agricultural products due to Fusarium diseases. In Austria guidline levels of 60 ppb (¿g/kg) for wheat and rye have been established, but measurements are costly. The goal of this project is the development of an inexpensive bioassay (based on a genetically modified yeast strain).
