Hydraulic-hydrological study for the implementation of retention measures at the Tuxbach in Tyrol.
Abstract
Caused by the flood events in 1987 that affected huge parts of the Tuxer-valley the WLV started to deal critically with the situation of the Tuxbach. In the last 20 years the Tuxbach gradually lost of its natural habitat. The inundation areas of the river that should cut the peaks of flood events got lost because of different local interests and because of measures taken by the WLV. Local measures of protection did not affect the situation in a positive way. This project wants to stop the punctual evaluation of damages due to floods. The hydraulic calculation based on the event in August 1987 was used to determine areas which demand protective measures and which areas need to be obtained as retention areas for the river.
