Structure and mechanism of the flavocytochrome cellobiose dehydrogenase from different fungi
Abstract
It is the objectives of the proposed project to compare the properties of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from basidiomycetes and ascomycetes and to investigate basic catalytic properties, the primary structure, and the reaction mechanism of different CDH belonging to class-1 and class-2. Such a study has not been performed previously, will investigate and highlight differences in the catalytic potential of representative enzymes of each class, and will help us to understand basic reaction mechanisms of these flavocytochromes. A more detailed knowledge will be the basis for a wider biotechnological application of these enzymes, e.g., in bioremediation, biosensors, or biocatalysis.
