Implementation and Monitoring of Health and Welfare Plans in Austrian Organic Pig Farms
Abstract
It is the aim of this project to improve health and welfare and to reduce the use of medicinal products in Austrian Organic pig farming. Based on longitudinal investigations in 60 pig farms, herd health and welfare plans will be developed and such plans may act as part of a quality assurance system. The following steps will be taken: 1. Implementation of a farm specific dynamic advisory and support instrument (Farm Development Plan) 2. Platform for already existing agricultural and veterinary advisory systems (e.g. advisory data base Bio Austria)
