Abstract
In the framework of the EU LIFE II project „Upper Drau“ a check dam is replaced to a modern one. Because of the new typ of the check dam approximately 15000m³ of bed load is moved due to high and middle water processes into the river “Drau”. Unfortunately, there is no knowledge about the exact amount of bed load that is transported and its deposition behaviour. Therefore terrestrial laser scanning, a new surveying method, is applied. Due to the ability of terrestrial laser scanning of a high resolution spatial measurement, the exact amount of deposited material is determined. The mesurements take place at the lower part of the torrent ”Feistritzbach” within a long-time monitoring project.
