MUBIL III – Evaluation, Subproject: Monitoring the soil fauna of the conversion farm Rutzendorf
Abstract
This project aims at continuing the long term soil monitoring of the conversion farm in Rutzendorf, Marchfeld, Lower Austria. Once a year at the onset of the vegetation season, Springtails (Collembola), predatory mites (Gamasina), and oribatid mites (Oribatida) to characterize their year-to-year dynamics. In the first years following the conversion, we did not find significant effects on the soil fauna; the fauna more or less remained in the composition of the conventional cultivation. A very pronounced increase of abundances and species richness occurred after three and four years of the monitoring.
